About the File Encrypt / Decrypt
Encryption scrambles a file so that only someone with the correct password can read it. This tool uses AES-256 — the same standard trusted by governments and banks — to encrypt or decrypt any file with a password you choose. Without that password, the encrypted file is meaningless, even to us.
Everything happens in your browser and works offline: the file and password never leave your device. That means you can protect a document before emailing it, or safely decrypt one you've received, without trusting any server.
How to use it

Tips & good to know
- There is no password recovery — if you forget the password, the file cannot be opened. Store it safely.
- Send the password through a different channel than the file (for example, text the password if you emailed the file).
